CLAST TEST # 3 :

 16. Given that  x |-2 |,   y = - | 3 | and  z = - | - 4 |  then  z + y - x =

       A)  -7                     B) -9                           C)  7                              D)  9

 Solution:
            The numerical value when direction or sign is not consider is called the absolute value.

The absolute value of x is written
|x|.
            The absolute value of a number is always positive, except
 when the number is 0 ( |0| = 0 )

If   x |-2 |   then   x2
             If
   y = - | 3 |  then   ( | 3 | = 3 ),   y = - (3),  y = - 3
             If   z = - | - 4 | then  ( | - 4 | = 4 ),   z = - ( 4
),  z = - 4

             z + y - x = - 4 - 3 - 2

 z + y - x = - 4 - 5

 z + y - x = - 9
